After thinking the adapter was about to be added to the electronics graveyard I stumbled across a 3rd party that makes drivers for the chipset in this adapter: They were adamant in their literature about how good their drivers were, but alas experimentation proved that the driver does not correctly output parity bits (at least not in 7 bit mode) and this causes the Fadal to throw 'parity errors' like crazy.
